POST CONTRACT ELECTRICAL VARIATIONS

We recieved the variations the other day on the electrical and havnt signed as yet, we were quite shocked on how much extra a tv point is. We need the extra due to the optic fibre if you want foxel you have to put 2 tv points in one for the tv and one for the foxtel box. We are short 2 lights an extra in the alfresco and a extra in the garage but might just leave these and do later and 1 powerpoint as they dont provide an alfresco powerpoint which i think every builder should as its a living area. We also moved our indoor gas point outside so no-more worrying about gas bottles for the bbq there was a small charge but worth it for the coinveance, 1 gas bottle wouldve cost more so happy with that. Overall theres enough powerpoints and we upgraded to downlights in living and hallway so theres enought lights. We got Elderton to do just the wiring in the piers as bunnings have great big bunkers with sensors for $50.00 each great buy as other lights shops can sell them at $149. One thing we wanted to do was move the electrical box inside the gargage but with the cost of it too much we found out our electrical company can come put a lock on it and only you and them would have the key so we are going to go with that option instead.

  1. From what I have been toolld you should not have to put a point for foxtel and free to air if you watch your free to air from foxtel. The cable brings both through and is foxtel is decoded by the foxtel box. Realistically an TV point you put in can be turned into a foxtel box just by moving the box. All you need to do is purchase a F to PAL cable to use the TV normally providing that the electrician is putting in the 'smart wiring' and that all ports are terminated with a F connection (Looks like a foxtel connection)

  2. We went to the info night for opticomm and from our understanding we needed two as foxel takes 2 not sure how it all works, our builder is putting in the smart wiring and we are very happy with the cost as they say builders can charge anywhere from $1500 to $5000.

  4. The extra charge was $134 for an outside powerpoint to alfresco. I dont know why they dont do it they should, they put one in the gargage. We decided after so many upgrades and extra's whatever else we want we can do later we just want to start building.. Downlights are gu10 13w fluorescent might look into it a little more i think they can be replaced might check out beacon lighting where we are buying our light fittings from. We got a fan too with 3 spot lights underneath it was cheaper than adding another alfresco light. I dont think they will break them the place is getting busier now. What color windows did you choose we did white pearl.
